Posada Terra Santa in Palma de Mallorca

Palma has its own unique charm, especially in winter, when the crowds thin out and the magic of the old town truly shines. And hidden right in the heart of it all, I found the perfect boutique hotel in Palma for a dreamy city escape.

Location

The Posada Terra Santa is the perfect boutique hotel in Palma if you want to stay in a quiet area but also be close to the hustle and bustle of the city’s historic center. You can easily walk to the Palma Cathedral, Plaça Major, all big shopping areas, and even the beach. The biggest benefit for me personally, is that the hotel is just 200m away from my favourite café, Fika Farina. They sell Swedish pastries and make the best coffee. I usually get some goods to go and walk to the cathedral for the best view over the sea.

Besides the obvious prime location within Palma, the Posada Terra Santa is also a great starting point for other excursions. Just a 10 minute walk away is the Plaça d’Espanya. Here you can catch bus 203 to Valdemossa, an enchanting mountain village perfect for hiking. Or get on a historic wooden train that takes you to the town of Sóller. Enjoy the scenery of Sierra Norte de Mallorca while feeling like it’s 1912 again.

The options of what to do and where to go are sheer endless, and the Posada Terra Santa hotel is in the centre of it all.

Getting here is easy

Palma de Mallorca is pretty much right next to the island’s airport, so getting to the hotel is super easy. You can take the A1 bus in the direction of “Es Baluard”, which is just a 13 minute drive. Get off at “452-Gabriel Alomar – Àrea d’intercanvi Sindicat” and walk 500 metres until you reach the Posada Terra Santa.

If you don’t want to take the bus, you can also just grab a taxi. It will take you to the hotel within 10-15 minutes and costs approximately 20-25€.

The Hotel

atmosphere

Posada Terra Santa is one of those hotels where you instantly feel at ease. Hidden away on a quiet street in the heart of Palma’s old town, it feels super private and peaceful, even though you’re right in the middle of everything. Inside, it’s all warm stone walls, soft lighting, and cozy corners. We were there over New Year’s, and the whole place had a really lovely, festive feel. The Christmas decorations were done just right (elegant, not cheesy) and made the whole vibe extra cozy.

My boyfriend and I ended up spending most of our time on the rooftop terrace, just enjoying the sun (which was surprisingly strong for December!), sipping drinks, and snacking on Iberico ham, pan de tomat, and whatever else we could get our hands on. Honestly, we barely wanted to leave.

Breakfast was a real highlight. Everything was super fresh and local: fruit from Mercat de L’Olivar, cold cuts from Mercat de Pere Garau, and amazing sobrasada and camaiot from a little producer in Porreres. You could tell they really put love into the details.

There’s also a small spa area downstairs that you can book in advance. And I’d really recommend doing so! It’s a tiny space with a sauna, pool, and a couple of loungers. In my opinion, it’s a little too intimate to share with strangers. However, if you’ve got it to yourselves, it’s perfect for fully relaxing.

We didn’t try dinner at the hotel, but we heard from other guests that the restaurant is great and uses mostly local ingredients. If the breakfast was any indication, I totally believe it.

Rooms

We stayed in a superior double room, and it had everything we needed for a comfy city break. It was spacious, with a super comfortable bed (the kind you sink into after walking all day), and we had a nice view overlooking the quiet inner courtyard. The layout was pretty open, with the bathroom area integrated into the room. It actually felt really modern and airy. The bathroom itself was great: spacious, super clean, and stocked with all the little amenities (from L’Occitane!) you might want.

Generally, the room’s design blends historic charm with modern elements with white walls, hardwood floors, and some decor. There’s also a cozy seating area with wingback chairs that provided a perfect spot for reading or enjoying a cup of coffee from the in-room machine. I’ll be honest, the style of the room is not really my favourite. I’m just not the biggest fan of grey, beige and satin. However, I’ve seen pictures of other rooms on the hotel’s website that look way more warm and mediterranean!

We did have one little issue: some water started dripping from the ceiling onto my nightstand. Not ideal, but honestly, they handled it really well. The hotel was fully booked, so we couldn’t move rooms, but they compensated us with free breakfast every morning and covered all our food and drinks on the rooftop terrace. Considering the leak was pretty minor and didn’t affect our stay much, I thought that was more than fair.

Something Special

My boyfriend and I celebrated New Year’s Eve at Posada Terra Santa which was filled with an unexpected surprise. The hotel provided us with a festive package filled with decorations, party favors, and a selection of drinks to ring in the new year. Since we were sick and couldn’t attend any celebrations within Palma, this was very much appreciated. This gesture allowed us to enjoy the night from the comfort of our room, while feeling a little special. It’s these thoughtful details that really set Posada Terra Santa apart and made our stay unforgettable.

I’ve mentioned it before, but honestly one of the hotel’s standout features is rooftop terrace with a small pool. While it may not be large enough for serious swimming, it’s perfect for a refreshing dip under the Mallorcan sun. Of course, in December it was way too cold for us to enjoy, though.

The terrace itself is beautifully decorated with plants and offers comfortable sun loungers, creating a lovely space to relax. From this vantage point, we enjoyed the stunning views over Palma’s rooftops, making it an ideal spot for morning coffee or evening drinks.

Final Thoughts

I really enjoyed staying in this cozy boutique hotel in Palma. The town itself is one of my favourite aspects of the island, with all of its cute little stores and cafés. Posada Terra Santa is a perfect option for a short city getaway, especially during low season with less of a crowd! And honestly, I’m still dreaming about the Ibérico ham sandwiches.
